CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION NO. 96-008
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, APPROVING A CONTRACT FOR
PROFESSIONAL SERVICES WITH ALASKA HEALTH CARE
MANAGEMENT ASSOCIATES FOR PHASE II, HOSPITAL
TRANSFER OF HEALTH CARE FACILITIES
WHEREAS, the City Council and administration have begun preliminary discussions with
representative of Providence Alaska Medical Center with respects to a proposed agreement which
would provide for management and operation of the hospital and clinic by Providence; and
WHEREAS, it is anticipated that negotiations of this agreement will begin in February; and
WHEREAS, it is imperative that the City present a proposed sale or transfer agreement and
any accompanying bond issues to the Council by February 12, 1996, in preparation for a special
election in April to ratify the transfer and approve the necessary bonding; and
WHEREAS, the City wishes to contract with Alaska Health Care Associates for critical
support during negotiations with Providence and assistance in meeting the February 12 deadline; and
WHEREAS, funds are available within the General Fund to cover the cost of the Phase II
contract with Alaska Health Care Associates;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. A professional services agreement between the City and Alaska Health Care
Services for Phase II, hospital facilities transfer, to assist the City in its negotiations with Providence
Alaska Medical Center is hereby approved.
Section 2. Said contract shall be in an amount not to exceed $10,325.00.
Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the city of Seward, Alaska, this 22nd
day of January, 1996.
