RESOLUTION 99-079
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,
ALASKA, PROVIDING FOR THE MANAGEMENT OF THE SEWARD
SKATE PARK
WHEREAS, a policy review of the skate park management was conducted by the City
Council and public testimony was received along with professional opinions from the city attorney
and our insurance carrier; and
WHEREAS, the intent of the Seward community and City Council is to provide a "Skate
at Your Own Risk" type of skate park; and
WHEREAS, it is the desire ofthe Seward City Council to set a policy that those who skate
in the skate park do so at their own risk;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The City of Seward's Skate Park policy is created, and this policy informs park
users that if they use a Seward skate park they do so at their own risk.
Section 2. The City of Seward shall implement the policy by taking action to include, but
not limited to:
A. "Use at your own risk" signs will be posted and maintained;
B. "Helmets are strongly recommended" signs will be posted and maintained;
C. Existing expectations of behavior signs will be posted and maintained;
D. SPRD will "red tag" unsafe ramps and elements.
Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately following its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council ofthe city of Seward, Alaska, this 14 day
ofJune, 1999.
