CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION NO. 96-015
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, PLACING THE JESSE LEE HOME
ON THE SEWARD REGISTER OF HISTORIC PLACES
WHEREAS, Ordinance No 95-10 established the Seward Register of Historic Places in
order to locally recognize significant properties in Seward's history; and
WHEREAS, Historic Preservation Commission Resolution No 95-06 established that
properties which have attained National Register status are automatically eligible for the Seward
Register of Historic Places; and
WHEREAS, the Jesse Lee Home was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on
September 29, 1995; and
WHEREAS, the established policy requires eligible properties to be placed on the local
register by resolution of the City Council; and
WHEREAS, the Historic Preservation Commission has recommended that the City Council
place the Jesse Lee Home on the local register;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. In accordance with the eligibility criteria established by the Historic Preservation
Commission, the Jesse Lee Home is hereby placed on the Seward Register of Historic Places.
Section 2. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the city of Seward, Alaska, this 12th day
of February, 1996.
