RESOLUTION NO. 96-028
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, AUTHORIZING A DONATION TO THE
KENAI PENINSULA BOROUGH ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT
DISTRICT TO P ARTlALL Y FUND A STUDY CONCERNING THE
SOCIO-ECONOMIC IMPACT OF ICE RINKS ON THE KENAI
PENINSULA AND APPROPRIATING FUNDS
WHEREAS, over the past two years, the Kenai Peninsula Borough Economic Development
District (EDD) has researched and discussed the development of ice rinks on the peninsula; and
WHEREAS, some local residents have also expressed an interest in providing an ice rink
for youth hockey leagues, figure skating and public recreation opportunities; and
WHEREAS, the EDD has requested that peninsula communities contribute funds for to
conduct a socio-economic impact study to assess the effects ice rinks might have on local
communities and the borough; and
WHEREAS, it is the City's desire to participate in a study which would focus on prospective
capital costs, operating expenses, reasonable revenue expectations and rate schedules and which
would give due consideration to the affordability offacility use by local residents and the economic
benefit such a facility might have on local businesses;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. A donation of $500 payable to the Kenai Peninsula Borough Economic
Development District is hereby approved.
Section 2. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the city of Seward, Alaska, this 11 th
day of March, 1996.
