HomeMy WebLinkAboutRes1996-031 , ,. ~ Sponsored by: Garzini CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA RESOLUTION NO. 96-031 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, APPROVING THE PURCHASE OF CERTAIN PUMP-OUT EQUIPMENT AND A MOBILE VACUUM TANK WITHOUT FULL UTILIZATION OF CITY BID PROCEDURES WHEREAS, on September 26,1994, the City Council approved Resolution No. 94-175, accepting a $70,000 state grant for a sewer pumpout station in the Harbor; and WHEREAS, on February 5, 1996, the Harbor received notice from the granting agency that the sum of $22,000 remained in the fund established for the Seward Harbor Project; and WHEREAS, if these funds are not used by June 30, 1996, for the purposes set forth in the grant agreement, they must be returned to the Alaska Department of Fish and Game; and WHEREAS, the City desires to use these funds to duplicate the pumpout equipment on the float system to reduce future maintenance costs for the operation of that facility and to purchase a 1,000-gallon mobile vacuum tank for maintenance of the City's sewer system; and WHEREAS, since the existing pumpout station purchased from Keko, Inc., has functioned without problems since its installation, it is the desire of the City to purchase an identical unit from Keko for use on the float system; and WHEREAS, since the cost of the Keko, Inc., pumpout station is under $10,000, there is no City requirement to bid this item; and WHEREAS, the City requested a price quote from Lely Pacific, Inc., for the purchase of a vacuum tank identical, except for capacity, to existing equipment currently in use in the Harbor for handling of waste oil; and WHEREAS, it is the desire of the Water and Sewer Department personnel to purchase this particular unit because of its proven track record and in to standardize the types of equipment used to maintain various systems within the City; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that: Section 1. It is found to be in the public interest to waive formal bid requirements for the purchase of a sewer pumpout system for the Harbor and a mobile vacuum tank for the Water and Sewer Department. CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA RESOLUTION NO. 96-031 Section 2. The City Manager is hereby authorized to issue a purchase order to Keko, Inc., in the amount of $5,305 for the purchase of certain sewer pumpout equipment for use in the Small Boat Harbor and a purchase order to $Lely Pacific, Inc., in the amount of $16,466 for purchase of a I ,ODD-gallon mobile vacuum tank. Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption. PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council ofthe city of Seward, Alaska, this 11th day of March, 1996.
