CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION NO. 96-059
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, AUTHORIZING PAYMENT OF AN
ICBO PLAN REVIEW OF THE ALASKA SEALIFE CENTER
PLANS AND APPROPRIATING FUNDS
WHEREAS, in late 1995, the Alaska SeaLife Center plans were completed and submitted
to the City for review and comments; and
WHEREAS, due to the complexity of the project, the City has requested the International
Conference of Building Officials (ICBO) to perform plan review functions on behalf of the City; and
WHEREAS, the building permit fee for this project is estimated to be $100,000, and one-half
that amount has been paid by the Seward Association for the Advancement of Marine Science
(SAAMS), the project owners in this fiscal year, with the remaining amount due on July 1, 1997; and
WHEREAS, revenues representing one-half the building permit fee were budgeted for FY
1996, but the expense of the necessary ICBO plan review was not budgeted; and
WHEREAS, ICBO and the City have completed the plan review, and the City has received
an invoice totaling $30,769.75 from ICBO for its review services;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The sum of $30,769.75 is hereby appropriated from the General Fund Fund
Balance Account No. 101-0000-3050 to Building Department Contract Services Account No. 101-
1250-5390.
Section 2. The City Manager is hereby authorized to issue a check in the amount of
$30,769.75 to the International Conference of Building Officials in payment of its review of the
Alaska SeaLife Center design plans.
Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the city of Seward, Alaska, this 13th day
of May, 1996.
