CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION NO. 96-097
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, APPROPRIATING AN ADDITIONAL $4200 TO
SEWARD GENERAL HOSPITAL TO PURCHASE THREE YEARS OF DIRECTORS
AND OFFICERS LIABILITY EXTENDED REPORTING ENDORSEMENT
COVERAGE WITH AETNA CASUALTY & SURETY COMPANY
WHEREAS, on July 22, 1996, the City Council approved Resolution No. 96-094
appropriating $138,326.41 from the General Fund fund balance to Seward General Hospital to
provide for premiums for Hospital Professional and General Liability Insurance Extended Reporting
Endorsement Coverage and appropriating $4800 from the General Fund fund balance for one year
coverage of Directors and Officers Liability Insurance Extended Reporting Endorsement coverage;
and
WHEREAS, the director of the Alaska Municipal League Joint Insurance Association has
recommended that the City purchase a minimum of two years of Directors and Officers Liability
extended coverage but advised the City to purchase the full three years of coverage to cover any
claim that might be allowed through some exception to exceed the normal two year statute of
limitations;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The FY 1997 budget is hereby amended by appropriating the sum of $4200 from
the General Fund fund balance account number 101-0000-3070-0301 to Seward General Hospital.
Section 2. Seward General Hospital is hereby authorized to purchase three years of
Directors and Officers Liability Insurance Extended Reporting Endorsement Coverage from Aetna
Casualty and Surety Company for a premium amount of $9,000.
Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the city of Seward, Alaska, this 12th
day of August, 1996.
