CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION NO. 96-099
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, ACCEPTING AN ALASKA HIGHWAY
SAFETY GRANT AND APPROPRIATING FUNDS
WHEREAS, the City has been awarded a Highway Safety grant in the amount of$15,200
for the purchase of rescue equipment; and
WHEREAS, under the terms of the grant, the City must provide a minimum of 15% in
matching funds; and
WHEREAS, in addition to the required 15% in matching funds, the Seward Fire Department
wishes to appropriate $1607 from the FY 1997 Fire Department Budget to the Highway Safety Grant
Account; and
WHEREAS, these grant funds and City matching funds will enable the Fire Department to
purchase additional rescue equipment needed to respond to vehicle accidents and other emergency
situations;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. A Highway Safety Grant in the amount of$15,200 is hereby accepted to Account
Number 310-3100-4680-100.
Section 2. The sum of $15,200 is appropriated from Account Number 310-3100-4680-100,
the sum of $1 ,607 is appropriated from the FY 1997 Fire Department Account Number 10 1-1221-
5XXX, and the sum of $2,280 is appropriated from the General Fund Fund Balance Account No.
101-0000-3070-0310, for a total amount of$19,087 which is appropriated to the Highway Safety
Grant Account Number 310-3100-XXXX.
Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the city of Seward, Alaska, this 12th
day of August, 1996.
