CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION NO. 96-109
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, ACCEPTING CAPITAL MATCHING
GRANTS AND APPROPRIATING FUNDS
WHEREAS, in November 1995, the City Council adopted a resolution approving certain City
projects for submittal to the State of Alaska for the FY 1997 Capital Projects Matching Grant Program;
and
WHEREAS, the City has received notification from the State that the grants were approved;
and
WHEREAS, these grants must be accepted by resolution of the City Council and the City's
matching funds required under the terms and conditions of the grants must be appropriated by the
Council;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The Historic Records Preservation Matching Grant No. 97/668-9-006 in the amount
of $20,842 is hereby accepted. The sum of $20,842 is hereby appropriated from State Grant revenues
and the sum of $3,999 is appropriated from the General Fund fund balance, and the total sum of
$24,841 is appropriated to the FY 1997 Capital Project Matching Grant Fund, Historic Preservation,
Account No. 271-2711-XXXX. The Salaries line item in the City Clerk Department is reduced by
$1,277.
Section 2. The Library Remodel Matching Grant No. 97/668-1-004 in the amount of $1 0,400
is hereby accepted. The sum of $10,400 is appropriated from State Grant revenues, $2,600 is
appropriated from contributions from the Friends ofthe Library, and $1,966 is appropriated from the
General Fund fund balance, and the total sum of $14,996 is appropriated to the FY 1997 Capital
Project Matching Grant Fund, Seward Library Basement Remodeling, Account No. 271-2712- XXXX.
Section 3. The Seward Children's Library Project Matching Grant No. 97/668-1-002 in the
amount of $10,400 is hereby accepted. The sum of $10,400 is appropriated from State Grant
Revenues, $1996 from the General Fund fund balance, and the total sum of$12,396 is appropriated
to the Seward Library - Children's Library Project, Account No. 271-271O-XXXX.
Section 4. The Seward Museum Darkroom Matching Grant No. 97668-1-005 in the amount
of $6,000 is hereby accepted. The sum of$6,000 is hereby appropriated from State Grant Revenues
to the FY 1997 Capital Project Matching Grant Fund, Seward Museum Darkroom Account No. 271-
2713-5998 as a pass-through grant to Resurrection Bay Historical Society. The City Manager is
authorized to enter into an agreement with Resurrection Bay Historical Society for the use ofthe State
FY97 Capital Project Matching Grant.

Section 5. The Seward Street Paving Matching Grant No. 97/668-8-003 in the amount of
$15,300 is hereby accepted. The sum of$15,300 is appropriated from State Grant Revenues, $2,936
from the General Fund fund balance, and the total sum of $18,236 is appropriated to FY 1997 Capital
Project Matching Grant Fund, Street Paving, Account No. 271-2715-XXXX.
Section 6. The Seward Surgical LightinglHospital Matching Grant No. 97/668-3-001 in the
amount of $13,086 is hereby accepted. The sum of $13,086 is appropriated from State Grant
Revenues, $2,511 from the Hospital Construction Fund bond proceeds, and the total sum of $15,597
is appropriated to the FY 1997 Capital Project Matching Grant Fund, Surgical Lighting/Hospital,
Account No. 271-2714-XXXX.
Section 7. The FY 1997 Capital Project Matching Grant Fund budgets for the above described
projects are hereby approved as set forth in the attached program budgets which are incorporated
herein by reference.
Section 8. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the city of Seward, Alaska, this 26th day
of August, 1996.
