CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION NO. 96-111
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO
ENTER INTO A PROFESSIONAL SERVICES AGREEMENT WITH
WINN PETERSON TO PROVIDE CONSULTING SERVICES FOR
WHOLESALE POWER CONTRACT NEGOTIATIONS
WHEREAS, the City currently is on a year-to-year renewal of its wholesale power purchase
agreement with Chugach Electric Association; and
WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the utility's rate payers for the City to enter. into a
long term agreement for the purchase of wholesale power; and
WHEREAS, there are at least three entities which could potentially provide wholesale power
to the City; and
WHEREAS, contracting with a recognized expert in the field would allow the City to obtain
the best long term wholesale power contract; and
WHEREAS, Winn Peterson is a recognized leader in this field and has offered to provide
consulting services to the City for an amount not to exceed $34,500;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The City Manager is authorized to enter into a professional services agreement
with Winn Peterson in an amount not to exceed $34,500 to provide consulting services to the City
of Seward with regards to wholesale power contract negotiations.
Section 2. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the city of Seward, Alaska, this 26th
day of August, 1996.
