CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION 99-091
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,
ALASKA, AUTHORIZING A I-YEAR CONTRACT BETWEEN THE CITY
OF SEWARD AND THE STATE OF ALASKA, DEPARTMENT OF
CORRECTIONS THAT PROVIDES FOR THE CITY OF SEWARD TO
OPERATE THE SEWARD COMMUNITY JAIL AND HOUSE PRISONERS
CHARGED AND/OR SENTENCED UNDER ALASKA STATUTES
WHEREAS, the City of Seward has received a proposed I-year contract from the State of
Alaska for the operation of the Seward Correctional Center; and
WHEREAS, the contract amount for the City of Seward is $363,464.67, to operate the
Seward Community Jail in accordance with the attached contract from July 1, 1999 through June 30,
2000.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The City Council authorizes the city manager to enter into the attached standard
agreement form between the City of Seward and the State of Alaska, Department of Corrections,
providing for the City of Seward to operate the Seward Community Jail and house prisoners charged
and/or sentenced under Alaska Statutes.
Section 2. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council ofthe city of Seward, Alaska, this 12 day
ofJuly,1999.
