CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION NO. 92-038
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF TWO
PATROL CARS, WAIVING BID PROCEDURES AND
APPROPRIATING FUNDS
WHEREAS, two city patrol cars, purchased in 1989, are in need of replacement;
and
WHEREAS, both patrol cars will have in excess of 100,000 miles on them on July
1,1992; and
WHEREAS, maintenance costs for these vehicles are expected to increase; and
WHEREAS, Cal Worthington Ford in Anchorage has been awarded a contract to
provide patrol cars for the Alaska State Troopers and the Anchorage Police Department;
and
WHEREAS, the city of Seward has an opportunity to purchase patrol cars under
the same contract terms offered to Anchorage and the State Troopers; and
WHEREAS, Seward City Code ~ 6.10.120 B. provides that the city may utilize
competitive bids obtained by other governmental units;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. In accordance with Section 6.10.120 B. of the Seward City Code, the
purchase of patrol cars utilizing contract prices obtained by the Alaska State Troopers and
the Municipality of Anchorage is found to be an exception to standard city bid
requirements, and the requirement to publicly bid this purchase is hereby waived.
Section 2. The city manager is authorized to issue a purchase order to Cal
Worthington Ford in the amount of $33,782 for the purchase of two patrol cars.
Section 3. The sum of $34,400 is hereby appropriated from the General Fund-
Fund Balance Account No. 101-3070 to the Motor Pool Fund Equipment Account No. 102-
1020-5930.
Section 4. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
