CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION NO. 92-073
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, APPROPRIATING FUNDS FOR
DOWNTOWN PARKING IMPROVEMENTS
WHEREAS, the Downtown Merchants Association has requested that the city
consider and provide an area for additional parking for the downtown area; and
WHEREAS, the city has reviewed a proposal for a parking area which was
submitted by the Association, considering cost, land use and maintenance factors of the
proposed lot; and
WHEREAS, the city has considered alternative solutions and sites for such a
parking lot; and
WHEREAS,it has been determined that the best solution and site for such a lot is
the city-owned property located south of the Seward Youth Center;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The sum of Five Thousand Three Hundred Twenty Dollars, $5,320 is
hereby appropriated from the General Fund fund balance account number 101-3070 to
the Street Department budget account numbers 101-1313-5440 ($2,010), Signs and Marking
and 101-1311-5380 ($3,310), Street Maintenance, for the purpose of developing a
downtown parking area located south of and adjacent to the Seward Youth Center site.
Section 2. This site shall be used for a one-year trial basis for observation of actual
use and problems associated with regulation and code enforcement.
Section 3. This site shall have a temporary site designation because the area is
located within the proposed site designated for the Alaska Sealife Center.
Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the city of Seward, Alaska, this
11th day of May, 1992.
