CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION 99-100
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,
ALASKA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO APPROVE A
PURCHASE ORDER IN THE AMOUNT OF $14,400 TO FOLLETT
SOFTWARE COMPANY FOR THE PURCHASE OF SOFTWARE,
SUPPLIES AND TECHNICAL SERVICES
WHEREAS, the Seward Community Library has consistently provided the community and
outlying areas with library and information services; and
WHEREAS, our adult and children's collections, video/CD collection and public access
Internet are well utilized by the local community and our summer guests; and
WHEREAS, our present method of accounting for patron use, inventory and tracking of our
holdings is through the antiquated system of cards and card catalogs; and
WHEREAS, a State of Alaska Municipal Capital Matching Grant was received late in 1997
that provided the library with computers, printers, scanners and Internet support; and
WHEREAS, the City Council approved a General Fund transfer in the current budget of
$14,400 to complete the automation of our collection; and
WHEREAS, the City Librarian has selected Follett Software Company to provide the
necessary material and expertise to help automate the library; and
WHEREAS, under Seward City Code, S6.1O.120(A)(8), since the items which shall be
provided by Follett Software Company will consist of specialized products and professional services,
there is no city code requirement to go through a competitive bid procedure prior to the issuance of
a purchase order to Follett Software Company;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The City Council authorizes the City Manager to approve a purchase order in the
amount of$14,400 to Follett Software Company for the purchase of software, supplies and technical
servIces.
Section 2. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the city of Seward, Alaska, this 26 day
ofJuly,1999.
