Sponsored by: Schaefermeyer CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA RESOLUTION NO. 92-139 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, AMENDING THE WATER-SEWER FUND BUDGET AND AUTHORIZING CONSTRUCflON OF WATER WELLS AT Fr. RAYMOND AND THE SEWARD MARINE INDUSTRIAL CENTER WHEREAS, the old water wells at Ft. Raymond continue to fail while demand for water is increasing; and WHEREAS, efforts to restore water wells #1 and #2 have been both costly and unsuccessfulj and WHEREAS, water well #3 is of the same vintage as wells #1 and #2 and can be expected to fail in the near futurej and WHEREAS, two new wells are currently in production and both have the capability to produce in excess of 1,000 gallons per minutej and WHEREAS, in order to achieve this production rate, the pump in water well #5 must be upgradedj and WHEREAS, although these two wells are capable of meeting normal demands, the failure of either one might result in insufficient water production to meet the demands of the fish processors and/or fire suppression; and WHEREAS, a third well is needed to provide continuous reliable water production for the cityj and WHEREAS, funds for this third well were not included in the city's capital budget request since the well was not identified as an emergency need during the budget processj and WHEREAS, two small water wells are needed at the Seward Marine Industrial Center to meet requirements of the Alaska Deparbnent of Environmental Conservation and the city's need for maintenance of the SMIC sewage lift station; and WHEREAS, funds are available in the prison construction budget for the construction of these two wells; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that: . . CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA RESOLUTION NO. 92-139 Section 1. The City Manager is hereby authorized to request proposals for the construction of a new 1,000 GPM well at Ft. Raymond and two 4-inch wells at the Seward Marine Industrial Center. Section 2. The sum of $35,000 is hereby appropriated from the Water-Sewer Capital Budget Account No. 701-3070, the sum of $20,500 is appropriated from the General Fund-Fund Balance Account No. 101-3070, and the total sum of $55,500 is appropriated to the Water Well #6 Capital Project Fund Account No. 209-2090-XXXX for the construction of the new water well at Ft. Raymond. Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption. PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the city of Seward, Alaska, this 24th day of August, 1992.
