Sponsored by: Schaefermeyer CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA RESOLUTION NO. 92-140 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, APPROPRIATING FUNDS FOR OSHA MANDATED HEPATITIS B VACCINATIONS WHEREAS, the federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has adopted a standard to protect workers from exposure to blood-bome pathogens such as Hepatitis B; and WHEREAS, the federal OSHA regulation has been adopted by the state of Alaska Department of Labor; and WHEREAS, it is the duty of employers to provide the opportunity for routinely occupationally exposed employees to participate in a Hepatitis B vaccination program at no cost to the employee; and WHEREAS, the city administration has determined that the most cost effective means to administer this program is to purchase the vaccine from Merck Company and have the Public Health Nurse administer the vaccine; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that: Section 1. The sum of $6,141.50 is hereby appropriated from the General Fund Fund Balance Account No. 101-3070 to the Fire Department Budget Account No. 101- 1220-5790 for the purpose of acquiring Hepatitis B vaccine from the Merck Company for the provision of a Hepatitis B vaccination program for certain city employees as mandated by OSHA regulations. Section 2. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption. PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the city of Seward, Alaska, this 24th day of August, 1992.
