CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA RESOLUTION NO. 92-148 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, APPROVING A CONTRACT WITH SUMMIT PAVING FOR STREET REPAIR AND BIKE PATH IMPROVEMENTS WHEREAS, Summit Paving has been awarded a contract by the Alaska Deparbnent of Transportation and Public Facilities to overlay Third Avenue; and WHEREAS, the state publicly advertised for bids for this work, and Summit Paving was the lowest bidder; and WHEREAS, Summit Paving has agreed to perform similar work for the city of Seward at a rate corresponding to the prices quoted to the Deparbnent of Transportation; and . WHEREAS, it is in the public interest to waive public bidding of this project and to enter into a negotiated contract with the state's paving contractor; and WHEREAS, funds are available in the FY 1993 capital budget for various maintenance and repair projects; and WHEREAS, uncommitted funds remain for construction of the bike path; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that: Section 1. The public interest will be best served by waiving competitive bid requirements for certain paving and repair projects within the city of Seward. Section 2. The City Manager is hereby authorized to award a contract to Summit Paving for street improvements on Coolidge, Benson, Resurrection Blvd., Swetmann Avenue, Second Avenue, Fourth Avenue and certain other streets for an estimated cost not to exceed $130,900. Section 3. The City Manager is further authorized to award a contract to Summit Paving for repair and improvements to the city bike path for an estimated amount not to exceed $20,000. . Section 4. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
