CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION NO. 92-153 SUBSTITUTE
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, AWARDING A CONTRACT FOR THE
CONSTRUCTION OF NEW WATER WELLS, APPROPRIATING FUNDS
AND AMENDING RESOLUTION NO. 92-139
WHEREAS, a request for bids to construct three new water wells was properly
advertised; and
WHEREAS, the City Council approved Resolution No. 92-139. appropriating
$55,000 to construct a new 12" utility well; and
WHEREAS, the two small wells for the Seward Marine Industrial Center will be
funded from prison construction funds; and
WHEREAS, the lowest bid price of $98,410 for the 12" well exceeded the
appropriated funds by $43,410, and this bid price is in the proper range for that
construction; and
WHEREAS, the estimated project cost, including contingencies, for the construc-
tion of the 12" well is $105,000; and
WHEREAS, the city is at risk of a serious water shortage during a major fire or
when the fish processors are in full operation if either Well No.4 or Well No.5 should
fail;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. Resolution No. 92-139 is hereby amended by deleting Section 2.
Section 2. The sum of $105,000 is hereby appropriated from the Water-Sewer
Fund Fund Balance Account No. 201-3070 to the Water Well No.6 Capital Project Fund
Account No. 209-2090..XXXX, for a total project amount of $105,000 which includes a
project contingency of $7,363.
Section 3. The City Manager is hereby authorized to execute a contract on behalf
of the city of Seward with Woodrow Drilling for an amount not to exceed $98,410 for the
construction of three new water wells.
Section 4. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
