Sponsored by: Schaefermeyer CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA RESOLUTION NO. 92-171 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, ACCEPTING A STATE GRANT FOR LOWELL POINT SEWAGE LAGOON SLUDGE REMOVAL AND DISPOSAL AND LAGOON REPAIR WHEREAS, during the previous legislative session, the city of Seward was awarded a state grant in the amount of $924,000 for sludge removal and disposal and repair of the Lowell Point sewage treatment facility; and WHEREAS, this grant provides one-half the estimated funding for the project with the remaining one-half to be funded by the city; and WHEREAS, in a recent election, voters of the city of Seward approved the acquisition of loan funds from the Alaska Clean Water Act funds provided through the state Department of Environmental Conservation; and WHEREAS, the state grant award must be accepted by resolution of the Gty Council; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that: Section 1. The Gty Manager is hereby authorized to execute the appropriate documents to accept a state grant totalling $924,000 from the Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation, such funds to be used for the removal and disposal of sewage sludge and the repair of the Lowell Point sewage treatment lagoon. Section 2.. The City accepts responsibility to operate and maintain the Lowell Point sewage treatment lagoon and agrees to the terms and conditions specified in state grant agreement #76908. Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption. PASSED AND APPROVED by the Gty Council of the city of Seward, Alaska, this 12th day of October, 1992.
