Sponsored by: Schaefenneyer CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA RESOLUTION NO. 92-175 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, IN SUPPORT OF THE CITY'S PARENT/CHILD PLAY GROUP PROGRAM (~'{'rJ1 ~J2 ~ W(.llo( 'i L WHEREAS, the city of Seward has developed, offered and presented popular recreational programs for youth for many years without complaint from private interests; and WHEREAS, the philosophy and goal of parks and recreation deparbnent programming is to present options and opportunities within the community for recreational and social activities for those of low to moderate income; and WHEREAS, the city's Parks and Recreation Deparbnent has successfully and continuously presented quality, safe programming in the past for youth; and WHEREAS, existing and propos~d programming for youth is offered at fees that do not require governmental tax doJJ,a'r subsidies; and WHEREAS, the administra.tion and the Parks and Recreation Deparbnent staff have received requests from ,tllembers of the public to continue to provide such programming for themselve and their children; and WHEREAS, the a inistration has attempted to urge parents and day care center proprietors to commu lcate about their respective needs and offerings; and WHEREAS the requests for city youth programming continue to be presented and received; and / / WH~EAS, the administration does not feel that private day care centers will be adverselY;1lffected financially by pennitting city programming to be conducted; and / ~HEREAS, the needs and wants of children are of considerable priority in Ze nnining which programs the city will offer; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that: Section 1. The City Council fully supports the city's planned Parent'Child Play Group Program and instructs the administration to proceed with its implementation. . . . CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA RESOLUTION NO. 92-175 Section 2. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
