CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION NO. 92-178
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER
TO EXECUTE AGREEMENTS WITH EXPERTS FOR THE SEWARD
SHIP'S CHANDLERY ARBITRATION AND APPROPRIATING FUNDS
WHEREAS, the city of Seward is involved in arbitration with Seward Ship's
Chandlery; and
WHEREAS, in order to prepare for the arbitration, the city has arranged for
testimony from expert and fact witnesses; and
WHEREAS, the city must pay for the time and expenses associated with these
witnesses; and
WHEREAS, the city administration estimates that the cost associated with the
witnesses will not exceed $75,000;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The City Manager is hereby authorized to enter into agreements with
expert and fact witnesses to provide testimony on behalf of the city in the Seward Ship's
Chandlery arbitration.
Section 2. The sum of $37,500 is hereby appropriated from the General Fund
Fund Balance Account No. 101-3070 to the General Fund Legal Account No. 101-1115-
5170 (subject matter - SSC Arbitration No. 1009)), and the sum of $37,500 is appropriated
from the Harbor Fund Fund Balance Account No. 401-3070 to the Harbor Fund Legal
Account No. 401-4110-5170 (subject matter - SSC Arbitration No. 4301).
Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the city of Seward, Alaska, this
26th day of October, 1992.
