CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION NO. 92-179
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, APPROPRIATING FUNDS TO
ESTABLISH A REWARD FUND FOR THE ARREST AND
CONVICTION OF INDIVIDUALS ENGAGED IN VANDALISM
OF PUBLIC PROPERTY
WHEREAS, in recent weeks, the Parks and Recreation Deparbnent has
experienced in increased amount of vandalism to public property and vehicles; and
WHEREAS, some of the vandalism was potentially life threatening; and
WHEREAS, because much of the vandalism has occurred in out of the way places
in the city, the public is probably not aware of the degree of the vandalism or its
resulting cost to the city; and
WHEREAS, it is the desire of the city to put a stop to what is becoming a serious
and costly problem within the community;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The sum of $1,000 is hereby appropriated from the General Fund Fund
Balance Account No. 101-3070 to the General Services Miscellaneous Expense Account No.
101-1180-5790 to establish a reward fund to facilitate the apprehension of vandals and to
assist in the prevention of vandalism and destruction of public property.
Section 2. The administration is hereby directed to establish procedures for
expenditure of the reward fund established in Section 1 above.
Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the city of Seward, Alaska, this
26th day of October, 1992.
