CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION NO. 92-182
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, APPROVING FINAL PAYMENT OF
THE CONTRACT WITH DAMES & MOORE FOR ENVIRONMENTAL
ASSESSMENT OF THE DRYDOCK AND SHIP REPAIR FACILITY AT SMIC
WHEREAS, Seward Ships Chandlery proposed to lease or purchase that portion
of the Seward Marine Industrial Center containing the ship repair facilities; and
WHEREAS, Dames & Moore was commissioned to perform a Phase I environmen-
tal site assessment of this area for a cost of $5,000; and
WHEREAS, following the completion of the Phase I report, Dames & Moore was
directed to perform Phase II, which included soil sampling of several locations at the
Seward Marine Industrial Center, and to expedite reporting the results to the city; and
WHEREAS, the cost of the additional work performed by Dames & Moore was
$6,921.93 for a total project amount of $11,921.93.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The City Manager is authorized to pay $11,921.93 to Dames & Moore
for Phase I and Phase II environmental assessment of the drydock and ship repair facility
at the Seward Marine Industrial Center.
Section 2. It is in the best interest of the city to expedite sampling and reporting
of possible pollutions at the SMIC without full utilization of the city bid procedure.
Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the city of Seward, Alaska, this
16th day of November, 1992.
