CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION 99-005
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,
ALASKA, INCREASING MUNICIPAL CAMPING FEES
WHEREAS, a high level of concern exists among the citizenry and the administration
regarding the impact of campers on Waterfront Park; and
WHEREAS, the administration has developed an on-going, seven-point plan to mitigate
some of the negative impacts of visitors, campers and party-seekers who celebrate the Fourth of
July holiday to excess; and
WHEREAS, one portion of this seven-point plan includes increasing camper fees to
offset the costs of additional operating expenses and to assist in funding future campground
improvements; and
WHEREAS, increased camper demand indicates a fee increase is warranted;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1.
Regular camping fees shall be increased from the current rate to:
A. $6.00 shall be charged per tent, (no change,)
B. $10.00 shall be charged per R V, camper or trailer,
C. $15.00 shall be charged per Utility Site as is the current fee, !po change,)
D. $2.00 shall be charged per unit for "Winter Camping" (between October 1
through April 14 each year) in the designated "Winter Camping" area, (no
change.) ..

Section 2. Camping fees shall be further increased from the"~bove ~isted rates on
every July 3rd, 4th and 5th to:
A. $10.00 shall be charged per tent,
B. $12.00 shall be charged per RV, camper or trailer,
C. $17.00 shall be charged per Utility Site.
Section 3. Fees are inclusive of the sales tax at the prevailing rate. {Adjustments to
tax rates will not affect camping fees until such time as camping fees are changed again by
resolution. }
Section 4.
This resolution shall take effect ten days from its adoption.
