CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION NO. 92-187
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, APPROPRIATING FUNDS AND AUTHORIZING
A LINE OF CREDIT TO THE SEWARD CHAMBER OF COMMERCE
WHEREAS, as the result of unforeseen revenue shortfalls from the Seward Silver
Salmon Derby, unexpected legal expenditures to defend a lawsuit, and unexpected
expenditures to provide portable toilet pumping services, the Seward Chamber of
Commerce has experienced a serious financial shortfall this year; and
WHEREAS, without an immediate infusion of funds, the Chamber may have to
close its offices; and
WHEREAS, the Seward Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors has voted and
requested that the city of Seward provide a $30,000 line of credit to cover general
operating expenditures; and
WHEREAS, although there are no sources of projected funds that have been
authorized to repay these funds, the Board desires to repay the city; and
WHEREAS, it is in the public interest for the Seward Chamber of Commerce to
remain open; and
WHEREAS, there are sufficient finances available within the city to provide the
necessary funds to the Chamber;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The sum of $30,000 is hereby appropriated from the General Fund
Fund Balance 101-3050 to General Services Contribution Fund 101-1191-5610-1189.
Section 2. The City Manager is authorized to distribute up to $30,000 in funding
on an as needed basis to the Seward Chamber of Commerce to cover general operating
expenses.
Section 3. A repayment agreement shall be executed by the city and the Chamber
of Commerce.
Section 4. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
