Sponsored by: Schaefermeyer CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA RESOLUTION NO. 93-014 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, APPROVING A DAMES & MOORE CONTRACT AMENDMENT TO COMPLETE A MORE DETAILED SURVEY OF THE OIL SPILL AT Fr. RAYMOND SUBSTATION WHEREAS, on November 16, 1992, the City Council approved Resolution No. 92- 185. awarding a contract to Dames & Moore to perform site testing and remediation planning for the oil spill at Ft. Raymond Substation; and WHEREAS, Dames & Moore has completed the preliminary work and has determined that a more detailed survey is required; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that: Section 1. The Dames & Moore agreement for site testing and remediation planning for the oil spill at Ft. Raymond Substation is hereby amended by increasing the total amount of the contract to $27,200. Section 2. The contract contingency is hereby increased to $8,000, for a total project budget totalling an amount not to exceed $35,209. Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption. PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the city of Seward, Alaska, this 25th day of January, 1993. '~ DAVE CALVERT, UTILITY ENGIN~ / ) _ _'~L -{~(;.~ INCREASE OF CONTRACT AMOUNT DAMES & MOORE THRU: FROM: SUBJECT: BACKGROUND: On November 16th, 1992, Council approved Resolution 92-185 authorizing the City Manager to award a contract to Dames and Moore for $7,637 (total project amount of $12,637.00) to do site testing and remediation planning for the oil spill at Ft. Raymond Substation. Dames & Moore has now completed their preliminary work and as a result have determined that a more detailed survey is required. I have attached copies of their "Interim Environmental Soil Sampling Report" dated January 4th, 1993, and their proposal for Follow-up Soil and Groundwater Sampling dated January 7th, 1993. Dames & Moore proposes to increase the contract amount by approximately $19,572 to do the additional work. They are proposing the do the additional work on a time and material basis as outlined in their January 7th, 1993 document. RECOMMENDATION: The City Council approve Resolution 9-3- Ofe.( authorizing the City Manager to sign an agreement with Dames & Moore to increase their contract amount under Resolution 92-l85 to $27,200 plus a contingency of $8,000 for a total project amount of $35,209. . . .
