CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION NO. 93-039
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, AWARDING A CONTRACT TO
BOSLOUGH CONSTRUCTION, INC., TO DESIGN AND
CONSTRUCT MINIMUM SECURITY HOUSING AT SPRING
CREEK CORRECTIONAL CENTER
WHEREAS, the city formally advertised for proposals to design and construct
minimum security housing for 20 inmates at Spring Creek Correctional Center; and
WHEREAS, three responsive proposals were received and opened on February 23,
1993, with Boslough Construction, Inc., submitting the low proposal of $378,000; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Corrections determined that Boslough's design was
acceptable and recommended award of the contract to same; and
WHEREAS, funding for the project includes $165,155 from available Prison
Construction Funds, with the balance of $212,845 to be provided by the Department of
Corrections; and
WHEREAS, the funding to be provided by the Department of Corrections is
subject to review by the State Administration, and the approval of State funding
documents may be delayed pending review;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The City Manager is hereby authorized to execute a contract with
Boslough Construction, Inc., to construct minimum security housing at Spring Creek
Correctional Center for an amount not to exceed $378,000.
Section 2. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption;
however, award of the contract for construction of the project shall be contingent upon
receipt of acceptable funding authority from the State of Alaska guaranteeing the balance
to be provided by the Alaska Deparbnent of Corrections.
Section 3. The authority to award the contract for construction of the project shall
be reconsidered by the City Council if the State fails to provide funding authority within
30 days following adoption of this resolution.
