RESOLUTION NOo 93-041
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, AUTHORIZING A CONTRACT TO
INSTALL AN EXHAUST COLLECTION SYSTEM IN THE CITY SHOP
WHEREAS, the City Shop has no system to collect and vent to the outside exhaust
fumes from vehicles and equipment running in the shop; and
WHEREAS, engine exhaust fumes contain toxic gases that are hazardous to the
health of mechanics and other personnel occupying the shop; and
WHEREAS, the City Shop is being operated in violation of the state occupational
health and safety standards, and the city could be cited and fined for said violations; and
WHEREAS, the work to install the exhaust system was publicly advertised in May,
1992, and two firms submitted proposals, with Seward Plumbing and Heating submitting
the low bid of $14,139.00; and
WHEREAS, Seward Plumbing and Heating has agreed to do the work in 1993 for
the original bid amount plus 5% for inflation for a new bid price of $14,845.95;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The public interest would best be served by waiving any requirement
to rebid the project.
Section 2. The City Manager is hereby authorized to award a contract to Seward
Plumbing and Heating for installation of an exhaust system in the City Shop for a price
not to exceed $14,845.95.
Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the city of Seward, Alaska, this
12th day of April, 1993.
