RESOLUTION 99-164
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,
ALASKA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO A
CONTRACT WITH DRYDEN & LARUE, INC. TO PROVIDE ENGINEER-
ING SERVICES AS OUTLINED IN THEIR PROPOSAL DATED NOVEM-
BER 11, 1999 FOR A COST NOT -TO-EXCEED $178,000.
WHEREAS, The City of Seward has two generators which need replacing to maintain the
ability of the City to provide stand-by electrical power in the event of interruption of the power
supply from Chugach Electric; and
WHEREAS,The City of Seward has received a $1,088,500 grant from the State of Alaska
to replace these generators, a portion of which can be used for engineering services; and
WHEREAS, Dryden & LaRue has prepared a report detailing the needs of the City to
replace these generators with modern equipment; and
WHEREAS, Dryden & LaRue has submitted a proposal to do the engineering for this
project for an amount not-to-exceed $178,000; and
WHEREAS, in accordance with SCC 6.10.120, (A)(8), exemption from the city's
competitive bid procedure is authorized because Dryden & LaRue, Inc. is a professional service

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY C()UNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The City Manager is authorized to enter into a contract with the engineering firm
of Dryden & LaRue, Inc., at a cost not-to-exceed $178,000 to provide engineering services
necessary to install a new generator in Ft. Raymond Substation. Funding will be from the State of
Alaska Electric Generator Replacement Grant.
Section 2. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the city of Seward, Alaska, this 22nd
day of November, 1999.
