CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION NO. 93-094
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, AUTHORIZING A ONE-YEAR EXTENSION OF THE
LEASE OF A PORTION OF LOTS 3 AND 6A, FORT RAYMOND SUBDIVISION,
TO THE U.S. GOVERNMENT FOR THE CONTINUED LOCATION OF PORTIONS
OF THE AIR FORCE RECREATION TRAILER UNITS AND UTILITIES
WHEREAS, the U.S. Government through the Alaska District Corps of Engineers
Real Estate Division holds a lease for a portion of Lots 3 and 6A, Fort Raymond
Subdivision, as a supplement to the Air Force Recreation Camp (Lease No. RE-035), to
accommodate trailer housing units that straddle the lease boundary; and
WHEREAS, the military has developed an overall recreation camp renovation
master plan which addresses the eventual removal of these housing units; and
WHEREAS, the city encourages the military to seek a permanent relocation and
replacement of all temporary trailer structures and uses within the recreation camps; and
WHEREAS, although the lease site is within the cemetery reserve, the city has no
immediate plans for this site;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The City Manager is authorized to execute the attached Supplemental
Agreement, incorporated herein by reference, to extend the Air Force Recreation Camp
Addition Lease No. RE-023 for one year, through June 30, 1994, at an established fair
market rental rate of $270.00 per year.
Section 2. The disposition of this lease by negotiated agreement is in the public
interest.
Section 3. The public interest would best be served by waiving an appraisal of the
property in accordance with Section 7.05.140 of the City Code.
Section 4. This resolution shall take effect thirty (30) days following adoption and
posting as required by law.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the city of Seward, Alaska, this
28th day of June, 1993.
