CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION NO. 93-115
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, AUTHORIZING ]AMIN, EBELL,
BOLGER & GENTRY TO ACCEPT, ON BEHALF OF THE CITY,
THE PROPOSED AL YESKA SETTLEMENT AGREEMENT
WHEREAS, the Alyeska Pipeline Company has agreed to settle with litigating
parties in the Exxon Valdez oil spill incident in the amount of $98 Million to be
distributed among the various parties claiming damages against the company; and
WHEREAS, Jamin, Ebell, Bolger & Gentry, the law firm representing the city of
Seward in this matter, has recommended acceptance of the settlement agreement with
the addition of some proposed language changes; and
WHEREAS, it is estimated that the city of Seward will receive several hundred
thousand dollars as a result of this settlement;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. City Attorney Matt Jamin is hereby authorized to accept a settlement
agreement with Alyeska Pipeline Company on behalf of the city of Seward provided that
the agreement's language difficulties identified by Mr. Jamin can be ameliorated.
Section 2. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the city of Seward, Alaska, this
9th day of August, 1993.
