CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION NO. 93-166
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF A
SANDING TRUCK FROM WHITE GMC OF ALASKA
WHEREAS, the Public Works Department currently uses a 1971 International truck
which was acquired in 1979 as surplus from the state of Alaska, as the street sander for
the city; and
WHEREAS, this truck has over 250,000 miles of service and is near the end of its
useful life; and
WHEREAS, Seward City Code ~ 6.10.120 B. provides that the city may utilize
competitive bids obtained by other governmental units; and
WHEREAS, the city "piggy-backed" on a recent state of Alaska RFP to take
advantage of the price breaks afforded larger volume requests; and
and
WHEREAS, White GMC of Alaska submitted the low bid for the desired vehicle;
WHEREAS, the FY 1994 budget includes monies to finance a sanding truck
through a lease/purchase agreement; and
WHEREAS, if this purchased is authorized, the Finance Department will seek
lease/purchase financing from available sources for approval by the City Council at a later
date;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:

Section 1. The purchase of a 1994 AutoCar ACL64B sanding truck from White
GMC of Alaska in the amount of $130,116 (FOB Seward) is hereby APPROVED.
Section 2. The purchase of this equipment is contingent upon City Council
approval of an equipment lease/purchase financing agreement.
Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the city of Seward, Alaska, this
22nd day of November, 1993.
