CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION NO. 93-167
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF
DIGITAL COMPUTER EQUIPMENT WITHOUT FULL UTILIZATION
OF CITY BID PROCEDURES
WHEREAS, the administration requested quotations from available vendors to
upgrade the Finance Department's Microvax 3300 computeJ;' system; and
WHEREAS, the low bid for the upgrade was submitted by Puget Sound Data
Systems; and
WHEREAS, this bid has been determined to be responsive to the city's request,
and it has been determined that the bidder is capable of providing the services requested;
and
WHEREAS, if the city's current system is upgraded as proposed, maintenance
contract cost savings over the next three years will offset the cost of the upgrade; and
WHEREAS, the proposed upgrade will also provide significant increases in
performance and efficiency; and
WHEREAS, funds are available in the FY 1994 Finance Department Budget for the
upgrade of this computer system;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. It is in the public interest to waive formal bidding procedures for the
upgrade of the city's Microvax 3300 computer system.
Section 2. The City Manager is hereby authorized to execute a purchase order in
the amount of $17,500, plus freight, to Puget Sound Data Systems for the purchase of
Digital computer equipment.
Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the city of Seward, Alaska, this
22nd day of November, 1993.
