RESOLUTION 99-173
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,
ALASKA, APPROVING A 4% REDUCTION IN ELECTRIC BILLS
(BEFORE TAXES) FOR ALL CUSTOMER CLASSES EXCEPT INDUS-
TRIAL SERVICE, STREET LIGHTS, AND YARD LIGHTS EFFECTIVE
FROM JANUARY 1, 2000 THROUGH MARCH 31, 2000.
WHEREAS, in February 1998, Council passed Resolution 98-010 approving the new
Chugach Electric Association Contract and a 4% reduction in electric bills (before taxes) for
customer classes except industrial service, street lights, and yard lights pending completion of a rate
study; and
WHEREAS, a rate study is underway and will probably be completed by the end of
February 2000; and
WHEREAS, the initial rate reduction was effective through February 28, 1999, and Council
has subsequently extended the reduction to the end of December, 1999; and
WHEREAS, the utility is healthy and can absorb this rate reduction through March 31,2000,
or completion of the rate study and adoption by the Council of a new Electrical Tariff;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The City Council authorizes the City Manager to continue a rate reduction of 4%
in electric bills (before taxes) for all customer classes except Industrial Service, Street Lights, and
Yard Lights, through March 31, 2000.
Section 2. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the city of Seward, Alaska, this 13th
day of December, 1999.
