CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION NO. 89-101
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, APPROPRIATING FUNDS FROM THE
GENERAL FUND TO THE PARKS AND RECREATION
DEPARTMENT BUDGET FOR THE PURPOSE OF OPERATING A
COMMUNITY SCHOOLS PROGRAM FOR THE 1989-90 SCHOOL YEAR
WHEREAS, the community is in need of public athletic
facilities and classroom space for the conduct of recreation and
leisure programs for youth and adults in the after school and
evening hours during the fall and winter months; and
WHEREAS, in the past years, the Seward Communi ty School
Program has made such facilities and programs available to the
local citizenry; and
WHEREAS, the Kenai Peninsula Borough School District will
contribute $7,000 to the city of Seward for the operation of a
community schools program in Seward, Alaska, for the 1989-90 school
year; and
WHEREAS, the community will benefit from varied programs in
recreation, physical activities, leisure activities and adult
education offerings that would be provided through a community
schools program;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
section 1. A grant in the amount of Seven Thousand Dollars
($7,000) from the Kenai Peninsula Borough for the Community Schools
Program is hereby accepted and appropriated to the FY 1990 Parks
and Recreation Department Budget.
section 2. The sum of Three Thousand Dollars ($3,000.00) is
hereby appropriated from the General Fund Parks and Recreation
Revenues Account No. 101-000-347-10, and the sum of Ten Thousand
Dollars ($10,000.00) is appropriated from the General Fund state
Revenue sharing Funds Account No. 101-000-335-14-00. The total
appropriation of Thirteen Thousand Dollars ($13,000.00) is hereby
appropriated to the FY 1990 Parks and Recreation Department
operating budget for the purpose of hiring a part-time coordinator
and to develop, operate and supervise a community schools program
from September 1989 through May 1990.
Section 3. The budgets are hereby amended in accordance with
the provisions of Sections 1 and 2 above.

section 4. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its adoption.
