CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION NO. 89-l02
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER
TO NEGOTIATE A CONTRACT WITH SWENSON CONSTRUCTION
COMPANY FOR CONSTRUCTION OF A SECURITY AND STORAGE
BUILDING AT THE SEWARD MARINE INDUSTRIAL CENTER
WHEREAS, a request to design and construct a security and
storage building for the SMIC was publicly advertised on July 25,
1989; and
WHEREAS, four proposals were received; and
WHEREAS, Swenson Construction Company submitted a proposal
which met all requirements of the RFP, satisfied the needs of the
city, and proposed to construct the building for the lowest cost;
and
WHEREAS, the other proposals submitted to the city provided
no advantages which would warrant accepting a more costly proposal;
and
WHEREAS, funds for construction of the building are available
in the ADOT/PF TORA for Boat Harbor Improvements;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The City Manager is hereby authorized to negotiate
and execute a contract with Swenson Construction Company for the
construction of a 50' x 100' security and storage building at SMIC.
Section 2. The City Manager is further authorized to
establish a project account not to exceed Two Hundred Twenty-Five
Thousand ($225,000) to accomplish the construction of the building.
Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the city of Seward,
Alaska, this 28th day of August, 1989.
