CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION NO. 89-106
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, AUTHORIZING A JOINT APPLICATION
AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY, SEWARD LIFE ACTION COUNCIL
AND THE MT. MARATHON NATIVE ASSOCIATION FOR OIL
SPILL COMMUNITY ASSISTANCE GRANT FUNDS
WHEREAS, the city of Seward contemplates submitting jointly
with the Seward Life Action Council and the Mt. Marathon Native
Association an application for Oil Spill Community Assistance Grant
funds from the Alaska department of Community and Regional Affairs
for the purpose of addressing effects from the Exxon Valdez oil
spill; and
WHEREAS, the city of Seward, the Seward Life Action Council
and the Mt. Marathon Native Association desire and are required to
enter into a written cooperative agreement with each other to
participate in the Grant Program; and
WHEREAS, the city of Seward, the Seward Life Action Council
and the Mt. Marathon Native Association understand that the city
of Seward will act as the applicant to assume all obligations under
the terms of the grant including assuring compliance with all
applicable laws and program regulations and performance of all work
in accordance with the contract; and
WHEREAS, the city Manager will be the contact person for this
project;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The city of Seward, the Seward Life Action Council
and the Mt. Marathon Native Association agree to cooperate in the
submission of an application for oil spill community Assistance
Grant funds and agree to cooperate in implementation of the
submitted application as approved by the Department of Community
and Regional Affairs.
section 2. It is understood that nothing in this agreement
shall deprive the city of any power, zoning or development control,
or any other lawful authority which it presently possesses.
Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its adoption.
