HomeMy WebLinkAboutRes1989-108 . . . sponsored by: Schaefermeyer CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA RESOLUTION NO. 89-108 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, APPROVING A CHANGE ORDER WITH SUMMIT PAVING TO CONSTRUCT CURB, GUTTERS AND HANDICAP ACCESSIBLE SIDEWALKS AND TRAFFIC BARRIER IN THE SMALL BOAT HARBOR WHEREAS, the original design for the Seward Boat Harbor Improvements did not include a curb, gutter and paving along the east side of Fourth Avenue opposite the Breeze Inn starting at the Harbormaster's Building and extending to the fire lane adjacent to the Coast Guard facility; and WHEREAS, the current curb barriers are frequently pushed out of place, interfere with traffic, and create a hazard for vehicles and pedestrians; and WHEREAS, installation of a curb, gutter and sidewalk in this area would provide a safe, handicap-accessible pedestrian walkway and would improve parking and traffic flow in the area; and WHEREAS, Summit Paving has estimated the cost of this additional work to be approximately $25,289.00; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that: section 1. The city Manager is hereby authorized to execute a change order with Summit Paving in an amount not to exceed Twenty-Six Thousand, Five Hundred Dollars ($26,500) to install curbs, gutters and sidewalks as outlined above. Section 2. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption. PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the city of Seward, Alaska, this 18th day of September, 1989.
