CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION NO. 89-110 (Amended)
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF
AN ULTRASOUND MACHINE FROM TOSHIBA AMERICA
MEDICAL SYSTEMS, INC., WITHOUT FULL UTILIZATION
OF CITY BID PROCEDURES
WHEREAS, on July 24, 1989, the City Council approved
Resolution No. 89-085, appropriating a $140,000 State Municipal
Grant (No. 3/90-815) for the purchase of hospital equipment; and
WHEREAS, the Seward Community Hospital Board has identified
the purchase of ultrasound equipment as a priority if the hospital
is to continue to offer obstetrical services to the community; and
WHEREAS, ultrasound equipment is highly specialized equipment
and is available from a very limited number of suppliers; and
WHEREAS, the hospital solicited proposals from three major
firms which supply ultrasound equipment to Alaska; and
WHEREAS, the proposal submitted by Toshiba America Medical
Systems, Inc., proved to be the most responsive and cost-effective;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. It is in the public interest to waive formal bid
procedures for the purchase of ultrasound equipment for Seward
General Hospital.
Section 2. The City Manager is authorized to issue a purchase
order to Toshiba America Medical Systems Inc., for the purchase of
an ultrasound machine in an amount not to exceed Fifty-Five
Thousand Dollars ($55,000).
Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,
ALASKA, this 9th day of October, 1989.
