CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION NO. 89-122
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, APPROVING AMENDMENT NO. 1
TO THE TORA BETWEEN THE CITY AND THE DEPARTMENT
OF TRANSPORTATION AND PUBLIC FACILITIES FOR THE
PURPOSE OF CONSTRUCTING A PRISON INDUSTRIES ADDITION
WHEREAS, $156,000 has been included in the spring Creek
Correctional Center project budget for art work as provided by
applicable state law; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Corrections has established a
committee to evaluate and select art work and will purchase art
work for the prison; and
WHEREAS, the cost of the art work is based upon the amount of
state funding in the project and will be paid from those funds that
were initially transferred to the city by a TORA between the city
and the Department of Transportation and Public Facilities; and
WHEREAS, there is no requirement for Seward to approve the
expenditure, although a member of the Seward City Council is a
member of the DOC Committee to evaluate and select art for the
prison;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
section 1. The city Manager is authorized to execute
Amendment No. 1 to the TORA for construction of the prison
industries addition reducing the funding from $360,000 to $203,400.
section 2. The prison project budget is hereby revised to
reflect the deletion of the line item for art work.
section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the city Council of the city of Seward,
Alaska, this 9th day of October, 1989.
