HomeMy WebLinkAboutRes1989-124 . . . sponsored by: Schaefermever CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA RESOLUTION NO. 89-124 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF CERTAIN HOSPITAL EQUIPMENT WITHOUT FULL UTILIZATION OF CITY BID PROCEDURES WHEREAS, on July 24, 1989, the City Council approved Resolu- tion Nol. 89-085, appropriating a $140,000 State Municipal Grant (No. 3/90-815) for the purchase of hospital equipment; and WHEREAS, the Seward community Hospital Board has identified the certain hospital equipment to be purchased under the terms of the grant; and WHEREAS, hospital equipment is highly specialized and is manufactured and sold by only a limited number of vendors; and WHEREAS, the hospital administration has solicited price quotes and/or proposals from all major suppliers of mammography equipment to the state; and WHEREAS, the proposal submitted by Lorad reflected a "middle of the road price", but was determined by hospital staff and the hospi tal's contract radiologist to provide the highest qual i ty image; and WHEREAS, only one proposal was solicited for the fetal heart monitor since the hospital equipment must interface with equipment currently used in Providence Hospital; and WHEREAS, only one proposal was solicited for the telephone system since General Telephone is the only telephone service operating in the city of Seward; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that: Section 1. For the reasons stated above, it is found to be in the public interest to waive formal bid procedures for the purchase of mammography equipment, a telephone system and a fetal heart monitor for Seward General Hospital. Section 2. Funds available in the State Municipal Grant referenced above shall be expended for the purchase of this equipment, with any excess expense over grant funds to come from the hospital's approved FY 1990 equipment budget. -1- . . . The city Manager is authorized to issued purchase orders for the purchase of hospital equipment as follows: Mammography Equipment (Lorad) ............ $54,000. Telephone system (GTE) ................... $22,165. Fetal Heart Monitor (corometric) ......... $12,668. Section 4. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
