CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION NO. 89-129
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF
A USED PUMPER TRUCK FROM THE UNIVERSITY OF ALASKA
FIRE DEPARTMENT SUBJECT TO COUNCIL APPROVAL
OF A LEASE-PURCHASE FINANCING AGREEMENT
WHEREAS, since beginning development of the Seward Marine
Industrial Center, fire protection for that area has been a concern
of the city: and
WHEREAS, both the city's Five-Year Capital Projects Plan and
the city's Fire Master Plan have identified a manned-fire station
within the SMIC as a city priority: and
WHEREAS, construction has begun on a storage facility at SMIC
to house, among other items, fire-fighting equipment: and
WHEREAS, the University of Alaska has offered for sale to the
city a used fire truck which has been determined to be in good
overall condition: and
WHEREAS, the used truck can be purchased for a price substan-
tially below that of a new truck: and
WHEREAS, the city administration has estimated that the truck
can be acquired through lease-purchase financing for a cost of One
Thousand, six Hundred and Ninety-Eight Dollars and Eighty-Eight
Cents ($1,698.88) per month over a sixty (60) month period: and
WHEREAS, section 6.l0.l20(A) (6) of the Seward City Code
exempts equipment purchased from another governmental unit from the
bid procedures set forth in the City Code:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
section 1. The City Manager is hereby authorized to proceed
with a request for proposals to lease-purchase finance the purchase
of a used fire truck from the University of Alaska Fire Department.
Section 2. Purchase of the fire truck is contingent upon City
Council approval of the above referenced lease-purchase agreement.
section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its adoption.
