CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION NO. 89-135
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, RATIFYING A RAILBELT COALITION
RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE DISTRIBUTION OF THE
RAILBELT ENERGY FUND
WHEREAS, on Saturday, October 21, 1989, the Railbelt Coalition
adopted Resolution No. 89-003AM, supporting the distribution of the
Railbelt Energy Fund~ and
WHEREAS, this resolution requests that the sum of $135 Million
be appropriated from the Railbelt Energy Fund to the Alaska Energy
Authority~ and
WHEREAS, the resolution further requests that $10 Million of
that appropriation be allocated to fund construction of a new 115
kV line between Seward and Lawing~ and
WHEREAS, the city of Seward wishes to lend its support to the
Coal i tion I s efforts to assure that Railbel t Energy Funds are
earmarked for distribution to the communities within the Railbelt~
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
section 1. Railbelt Coalition Resolution No. 89-003AM is
hereby ratified, and the Legislature is urged to make allocation
of the Railbelt Energy Fund as set forth in the resolution a
priority in the upcoming legislative session.
section 2. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the city of Seward,
Alaska, this 23rd day of October, 1989.
