CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION NO. 89-139
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,
ALASKA, OFFERING AN ACCIDENT PREVENTION/LOSS CONTROL
POLICY FOR THE CITY OF SEWARD
WHEREAS, the City of Seward realizes that it has the respon-
sibility to provide a safe working environment for its employees,
that each employee must pursue higher standards in his or her
assigned activities, and all municipal employees must recognize
that the well being of persons involved and the protection of our
physical resources are as important as the activity and work being
performed.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The City Manager is responsible for the overall
Accident Prevention/Loss Control Program for the city.
section 2. A safety committee chaired by the Manager of
Engineering and utilities and including the Fire Chief, Police
Chief and several other department heads is created to establish
an Accident Prevention/Loss Control Policy, investigate accidents
and losses and analyze trends.
Section 3. Each city department director will be responsible
for the safety and well being of the worker of his or her depart-
ment as well as repair and maintenance of facilities and equipment
in his or her area of responsibility.
section 4. Each municipal employee will be responsible for
his own personal safety and for safe completion of assigned tasks.
section 5. The city of Seward is committed to doing every-
thing in its power to make its Accident Prevention/Loss Control
Management Program a success and expects all municipal employees
to assist in this effort by contributing expertise and by following
all established rules and procedures.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the city of Seward,
Alaska, this day of 27th day of November, 1989.
