CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION NO. 96-140
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, APPROVING A PURCHASE ORDER FOR
THE PRODUCTION OF MARKETING BROCHURES WITHOUT FULL
UTILIZA TION OF THE CITY'S BID PROCEDURES
WHEREAS, the City Council budgeted funds for marketing and promotion of Seward; and
WHEREAS, the City Council further determined that the City needed high quality, up-to-
date marketing tools in order to effectively promote the community; and
WHEREAS, the Seward Chamber of Commerce recently conducted research on several
professional marketing firms; and
WHEREAS, it is in the city's best interest to waive formal bid procedures and utilize the
information obtained by the Chamber of Commerce; and
WHEREAS, the City Administration and the Port and Commerce Advisory Board, working
with the Chamber of Commerce, selected the marketing firm, Walsh & Sheppard, based on its
reputation and past dealings with the Chamber of Commerce, to develop and produce marketing
brochures;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The City Manager is hereby authorized to issue a purchase order to Walsh &
Sheppard for the development and production of 5,000 marketing brochures without full utilization
of the City's formal bid procedures, for an amount not to exceed $35,000.
Section 2. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council ofthe city of Seward, Alaska, this 14th day
of October, 1996.
