CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION NO. 96-157
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,
ALASKA, AUTHORIZING REIMBURSEMENT TO THE ALASKA
RAILROAD CORPORATION FOR IMPROVEMENTS TO RESTROOMS AS
REQUIRED BY THE ALASKA MARINE HIGHWAY SYSTEM AND
APPROPRIATING FUNDS
WHEREAS, when construction began on the Alaska SeaLife Center, the MV Tustumena
lost its docking and ticketing facilities which were formerly located on that site; and
WHEREAS, as a result, the City entered into an agreement with the Alaska Marine Highway
System (AMHS) and the Alaska Railroad Corporation (ARRe) under which the City would
reimburse the ARRC for certain improvements required by the AMHS which would allow the
AMHS to use the ARRC's dock and other facilities; and
WHEREAS, under the terms of this agreement, the ARRC made certain improvements to
its restroom facilities at the dock to make them handicap accessible; and
WHEREAS, the ARRC has billed the City $29,000 for the cost of the improvements; and
WHEREAS, monies are available from the $33,690 received by the City from the ARRC
through the AMHS for reimbursement of dredging costs;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The City Manager is authorized to issue payment in the amount of$29,000 to the
Alaska Railroad Corporation to cover the cost of improvements to its restroom facilities as required
by the Alaska Marine Highway System,
Section 2. The sum of $29,000 is hereby appropriated from the ARRC Dredging
Reimbursement Expense Account No. 276-2763-4680-0900 to the ARRC Dredging Reimbursement
Contract Services Account No, 276-2763-5390,
Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption,
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the city of Seward, Alaska, this 9th day
of December, 1996,
