CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION NO. 91-008
FOR
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, APPROPRIATING FUNDS FOR
CERTAIN HOSPITAL REPAIRS AND AWARDING A CONTRACT
REPAIRS WITHOUT FULL UTILIZATION OF CITY BID PROCEDURES
WHEREAS, Control Contractors, Inc., of Anchorage inspected and
performed limited maintenance on the heating and ventilation
systems of Seward General Hospital; and
WHEREAS, subsequent to the inspection, the contractor has
submitted quotes to complete several important repairs which could
not be accomplished at the time of inspection: and
WHEREAS, the repairs are critical and necessary for life
safety, code compliance and efficient operation of the hospital
building: and
WHEREAS, the repairs require the services of trained techni-
cians experienced in operation and maintenance of heating and
ventilation systems: and
WHEREAS, some of the parts needed to perform the repairs are
now obsolete and are available from a sole supplier located by the
contractor: and
WHEREAS, the quote provided by the contractor is reasonable;
and
WHEREAS, the cost of preparing bid specifications and
advertising the repairs would outweigh any potential cost savings
competitive bidding might provide: and
WHEREAS, funds are not available in the hospital budget to
cover the needed repairs;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
section 1. The city Manager is hereby authorized to transfer
the sum of $8,553 from the General Fund Fund Balance Account No.
101-3070 to the Seward General Hospital contributions Account No.
101-1185-5610, and the budgets are amended accordingly.
Section 2. The city Manager is further authorized to award a
contract to Control Contractors, Inc., for an amount not to exceed

RESOLUTION NO. 91-008
$8,553, to repair various heating and ventilation systems in Seward
General Hospital.
Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the city of Seward,
Alaska, this 14th day of January, 1991.
