CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION NO. 91-040
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, AMENDING RESOLUTION NO. 90-097
IN ORDER TO RELEASE MATCHING FUNDS FOR MODEL TESTING
OF A PERMEABLE WAVE BARRIER SUITABLE FOR THE
SEWARD SMALL BOAT HARBOR
WHEREAS, on August 27, 1990, the city Council approved
Resolution No. 90-097, providing matching funds for model testing
of a permeable wave barrier: and
WHEREAS, the release of the matching funds appropriated by
Resolution No. 90-097 was contingent upon an agreement between the
city of Seward and the Corps of Engineers which would guarantee
that the $25,000 appropriation would be considered a contribution
In Kind towards the ci ty' s share of the cost of the Corps'
feasibility study for this project: and
WHEREAS, because of federal funding cuts, the Corps of
Engineers was obliged to cease work on the subject feasibility
study before such an agreement could be executed with the city: and
WHEREAS, although the study has been funded once again, it is
unlikely that an agreement can be executed prior to the deadline
for committing the matching funds for the model testing program:
and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds it in the public interest to
participate in the model testing of a wave barrier which would make
possible the expansion of the Small Boat Harbor to the south:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
section 1. Resolution No. 90-097, a copy of which is attached
and incorporated herein by reference, is hereby amended by deleting
section 3.
section 2. The City Manager is hereby authorized to release
matching funds in the amount of $25,000 for model testing of a
permeable wave barrier.
section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the city Council of the city of Seward,
Alaska, this 6th day of May, 1991.
