CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION NO. 91-053
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, ACCEPTING A GRANT FOR THE SUMMER
YOUTH EMPLOYMENT TRAINING PROGRAM AND APPROPRIATING FUNDS
WHEREAS, the city of Seward was awarded a grant for a Summer
Youth Employment Training Program in the amount of $22,908.88: and
WHEREAS, this grant will be administered by the Parks and
Recreation Department: and
WHEREAS, the grant will provide one adult trainer and four
young workers for the summer months: and
WHEREAS, the youth employed under this program will also
receive two hours of instruction each day to improve basic skills
of reading, writing and math; and
WHEREAS, it is in the public interest to accept this grant to
provide employment and remedial education opportunities for
economically disadvantaged youth:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The Summer Youth Employment and Training Program
Grant in the amount of $22,908.88 is hereby ACCEPTED.
Section 2. Grant funds totalling $22,908.88 are hereby
appropriated to Special Revenue Fund Account No. 127-1270-4680-
0200.
Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the city of Seward,
Alaska, this 28th day of May, 1991.
