CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION NO. 97-009
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,
ALASKA, APPROVING THE SALE OF THE 1965 AMERICAN LEGION
LAFRANCE FIRE ENGINE TO COOPER LANDING VOLUNTEER FIRE
DEPARTMENT
WHEREAS, with the acquisition of a new pumper, the City's 1965 American Lafrance fire
engine has become available for surplus; and
WHEREAS, Cooper Landing Volunteer Fire Department has offered the City $5,000 to
acquire the surplus pumper; and
WHEREAS, this local Kenai Peninsula community would continue to use the vehicle for
its designated function, thus providing the highest and best use for the equipment; and
WHEREAS, it is in the public interest to assist neighboring volunteer fire response agencies
when circumstances will allow such assistance;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The City Manager is hereby authorized to transfer full title to the City's 1965
LaFrance Fire Engine to the Cooper Landing Volunteer Fire Department in exchange for the sum
of$5,000.
Section 2, This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption,
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the city of Seward, Alaska, this 13th
day ofJanuary, 1997,
